Reporting directly to the Area Manager of the Supply Chain division. The Assistant Buyer will provide support to the Buyer and designated MODU’s in the Asia pacific region in purchasing and control of materials and equipment.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the purchase of material and equipment in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
  • To input and control the listing of approved vendors.
  • Ensure that all MODU Storekeepers and office staff are kept aware of current standing of approved vendors.
  • Ensure that all Customs regulations relating to the control of material and equipment to be imported/exported are adhered to.
  • Assist the Operations Managers & Maintenance Manager with vendor liaison on repairs of MODU equipment and initiate repair documentation.
  • Investigate, evaluate and report on suppliers and subcontractors for their ability to meet requirements in all matters relating to quality.
  • In relation to the procurement of goods and services, ensures that necessary data is incorporated into the Purchase Order in accordance with the Quality Management System.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of Purchasing records.
  • Expediting critical and/or late arrival materials.
  • Monitor Vendor performance in relation to their requirement to supply proper delivery documentation.
  • Address delivery inadequacies.
  • Resolving Over Short & Damaged (OS&D) Reports.
  • Report to their immediate supervisor any situation that may constitute a hazard or that may cause injury to themselves or others, which they cannot correct themselves.
  • Ensure all work is carried out as safely and efficiently as possible by complying with DOGC training and safety policies and procedures.
  • Promote safe working practices.
  • Participate in safety initiatives and programs.
  • Other duties as required.




  • At least 18 years of age
  • Must have permanent residency in Australia
  • High School Certification/Secondary school Completion


  • Qualification in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management
  • Knowledge of Import, export, customs and transportation requirements
  • Able to handle and resolve problems in a high-volume, pressure-filled environment 
  • Good analytical ability 
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with vendors and all levels of personnel within the Company 
  • Strong organizational skills and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously 
  • Strong computer skills: Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Outlook.
